What is Resume Objective?

A resume objective is the older-style opening line that states what job you are seeking, in the familiar mold of seeking a challenging position in marketing. For most experienced candidates it has been displaced by the summary, because it spends prime resume space describing your wants instead of the employer's problem, and it usually repeats what the application itself already made obvious. It still has legitimate uses, though, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. Career changers can use one plain line to explain a pivot the work history alone cannot, entry-level candidates without much record can state a clear target so the reader knows what they are looking at, and relocation cases can flag the move up front. If you use one, keep it to a single specific sentence and follow it immediately with evidence, never with adjectives.
