What is Warm Introduction?
Being introduced through a mutual contact whose vouching transfers trust a cold message never carries.
A warm introduction is being connected to someone through a person you both know, instead of arriving cold. It works because trust transfers: the mutual contact spends a little of their credibility vouching for you, and the recipient extends a benefit of the doubt they would never hand a stranger. The polite modern mechanics use a double opt-in, where your contact privately asks the target whether they are open to the introduction before making it, so nobody gets ambushed into an obligation. Your job is to make vouching effortless and safe. Ask a contact who genuinely knows your work, name exactly who you want to meet and why now, and hand over a short forwardable blurb covering who you are, why them, and the small ask, written so it can be sent on as-is. Afterward, reply quickly, keep the thread worthy of the introducer's credibility, and report back on how it went. On LinkedIn, the mutual connections listed on any profile show you precisely who could make each introduction, which turns warm paths into something you can actually plan.
