What is Impressions?

The number of times your content was served on screen, counting repeat views by the same person.

Impressions count how many times your post was served on screen in the feed, as reported by LinkedIn's analytics. The number is not unique people: one member scrolling past your post three times can register three impressions, and an impression does not mean anyone actually read a word. Treat it as a volume metric, the raw size of the audience your post was put in front of, and read it alongside engagement to judge quality. A post with modest impressions and a strong comment thread often did its job better than a big-impressions post nobody answered. Impressions also serve as the usual denominator when people compute an engagement rate, which is why the two metrics travel together. Comparing your own posts against each other over weeks tells you far more than comparing your numbers to someone else's, since distribution varies with audience size, timing, format, and topic. The engagement rate calculator turns raw impressions and reactions into a figure you can track consistently.
