What is Profile Photo?
The headshot beside your name everywhere on LinkedIn, best kept recent, sharp, well-lit, and unmistakably human.
Your profile photo is the headshot attached to your LinkedIn identity, shown beside your name in search results, feeds, comments, and messages. Profiles with a clear photo of a human face simply get engaged with more, while an empty gray circle reads as abandoned or fake, and strangers hesitate to accept requests from it or reply to its messages. The craft is basic and worth doing properly. Use a recent, well-lit, sharp photo with your face filling a good portion of the frame, a plain background, and clothing that fits your field. LinkedIn recommends uploading an image of at least 400 by 400 pixels so it stays crisp at every size. Skip logos, group shots cropped down to one blurry head, sunglasses, and heavy filters, because the photo's entire job is letting people confirm you are a real, current human they could work with. Check how it renders at thumbnail size, since that is how it is almost always seen, and update it when it stops resembling the person who will show up on the call.
